Writing is not everyone’s cup of tea and for most adults in the business world it scars them almost as much as public speaking when their boss asks them to prepare a letter to an important client. When we think back to our days in college the classes that took us the most time and we hated the most was some form of writing. Fortunately you can put all those days behind you now along with your fears since there are numerous business letter software programs available on the market for unbelievably low prices.

You can just simply select the topic and then choose from a variety of different versions that match your purpose the best and make the slight adjustments to personalize it and you’re done. I have saved hours and hours of time letting the program do the work for me. The good news is I come out looking pretty smart to everyone else.

One of the most difficult things most people face when trying to compose a business letter is grammar and sentence structure. Trying to decide how to open and close the letter so that it makes sense. After all you are sending a letter to somebody important to serve an important purpose. What good will it be to go through the process of writing a letter if you come across unprofessional or can’t make your point. Business letter software will handle all that for you.

I haven’t run into one area yet that I haven’t been able to find the exact letter that matches closely with what I have trying to accomplish. In most cases I can replace just a couple of words here or put in the name of a company or person and I am done. On the other hand I can take what the business letter software initially provides and expand it into a great personalize business letter. Sales people will love this type of software so they aren’t faced with sending out the same old boring letters that most of us get in the mail and just throw out before every getting through the first paragraph.

The business development world consists of two kinds of business developers, those that actually know how to develop a business and those that have no idea. These are the kinds of people that claim to know a lot about business strategy when they really have no clue. In reality they are playing around with hard earned money and often throwing it in the garbage.

Many well known companies in the US have hired such “business developers” to help them grow their businesses, while throughout their entire relationship, the company had hired an individual (or in some cases a group of individuals) who were sufficiently inept to confuse accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Quite shockingly, these people come to well known executives with both bachelors and master’s degrees from distinguished universities and appear to have vast knowledge in the field. They seem to be very promising, but in reality, they know very little.

A recent case of a well-known list management and brokerage firm is a fantastic illustration of just this very point. This company hired a well-educated individual who presented himself as a business developer. He presented ideas to executives and convinced them that with his guidance, they will be able to take the company to the top, and they will make appearances at every conference and trade show.

He convinced them to pursue a new line of products, and that this new line would be the final push over the finish line that would make the company an internationally acclaimed success. Unfortunately, the executives bought his nonsense and spent so much money on it that they were forced to close down due to lack of profit.

Executives must not be enchanted by fantasies but rather look at what needs to get done and how to go about doing it. This process is called a requirement, which is where business development begins.

There is no sense in switching a company’s focus from something that it specializes in and produces well to something that it has no expertise in.
