For those of you lucky enough to get your hands on a PlayStation 5, it looks like the console is about to receive a pretty nice update. Some users have started to notice an option to install Apple Music on their PS5 consoles, marking the first time that the service will be available on any console.
Earlier today, Reddit user HOLYWARS1990 (Thanks, Verge) stumbled upon an interesting discovery when they tried to create a new account on their PS5. Part of the setup process suggests getting started with a music streaming app.
And HOLYWARS1990 isn’t the only person to have seen this new revelation. Upon finding the Reddit thread, Eurogamer was able to recreate the same option when creating their own new account.
How to set up Apple Music on PlayStation 5
Now, a support page has shown up on the PlayStation website with a few FAQs.
It turns out you will be able to listen to Apple Music and play games on your PS5 at the same time. There are also steps included for how you can get set up with the app:
In the All Apps section of your media home, select Apple Music and Download
Launch the Apple Music app on your PS5 and sign in
Follow prompts from there to link your two accounts
So there you go. It looks like Apple Music has quietly been integrated into the PlayStation 5. If you can’t seem to get the app on your PS5 quite yet, there’s no need to worry.
Integrations like this tend to roll out over a period of time, so you may have to wait a bit before it’s available to you.
